In 2010. 13 years after that single was released, I went to a Mighty Mighty Bosstones concert in December after Christmas at the House of Blues in Boston. It was their 13th annual Hometown Throwdown. They played that song and I still absolutely loved it.
Its amazing to think that after 13 years, I'm still listening to the same band, and the same songs that I was when I was 5 years old. I find it so cool because there's not much else in my life that I've liked for 13+ years. I do <3 my Super Nintendo still though. Also, I love the fact that I am still so into the Bosstones, I like them enough still after all these years to go see them in concert over a decade later.
I'm writing this listening to the Bosstones sitting here as a college freshman thinking back to little 5-year-old me, not even in Kindergarten yet listening to this song in the car, singing along. I'm not just writing this to say how much I love The Mighty Mighty Bosstones though. I'm writing this because I find it fascinating how music can have such an impact on someone like this. There isn't any other song that I know that I will gladly listen to today from when I was 5.
I'm glad I still love the Bosstones. I'm going to Hometown Throwdown 14 this December. I told Allie after we went together last year I want to go every year. It was that good. They have a great stage presence, great energy, and love what they do. I've grown to like them more and more over the years and they and their music are why I keep listening to them.
I'm the same way with Boston's "Peace of Mind" It is my all time favorite song. Hands Down. No questions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cTYhY3NUWE
